A long Necklace Design Idea With Natural Kukui And Multicolored Beads

Designing your own jewelry can be a lot of fun...
Look at these black beads also called kukui. Aren't they nice?
I like kukui for its roundness and its lightness. I just mix these natural beads with other types of beads: Resin, glass, cloisonné, gemstone... and strung them onto a an unusual craft chain called "serpentine"or "flat herringbone".
Perfect to use your" left over " beads!
If you wish to make this necklace, you will need:

Supplies

• Kukui
• Left over beads in different sizes, shapes,color...
  

• Craft chain (serpentine here)
• Crimp beads
• Head pins
• Crimp heads
• Clasp

How-To

• Make bead charms using the simple loop technique.
• Cut a piece of "serpentine" chain in your favorite finishes.
• Attach the cord tip to one end of your chain with a flat nose plier.
• Leave a space of 2 to 4 cms, string a crimp bead and flatten it with a flat nose plier.
• Add a few drop beads, the black bead, another few drop beads, string a crimp bead and flatten it with a flat nose plier.
• Leave a space of 2 to 4 cms, string a crimp bead and flatten it with a flat nose plier.
• Add a few multi color beads, string a crimp bead and flatten it with a flat nose plier.
• Repeat.
• Attach the cord tip to one end of your chain with a flat nose plier.
  
• Attach a clasp to the cord tip.

Quick tips

This craft chain is fragile, don't use heavy or too big beads, it might break quickly.
Vary the pattern. For example, pick up painted kukui nuts ( white, pink, green, metallic ...)
Your tools need to be always close by during your jewelry making project: A round nose plier, a flat nose plier, glue, scissors, cutter.
Have a good working, light and a comfortable chair.
