How- To

simple beading technique, first step right angle weave technique, making a row the right angle weave technique is a simple beading technique
using transparent cord is easy foe the right angle weave beading technique

  • Row 1: String on 4 beads
  • Pick up the left thread end and pass through the fourth bead (count the fourth bead from the left to the right of your thread, picture 1),
  • Pull the thread ends to tighten;
  • Row 2: Pick up the left thread end and string on 1 bead, pick up the right thread end and string on 2 beads;
  • Pick up the left thread end and pass through the second bead strung.
  • Row 3: Same as row 2.
  • Row 4: Put one bead on each thread end and pass through the 6 'oclock bead of row 1.

What is 6 'oclock bead of row 1: see picture 2, read it as a clock: 12 o'clock bead is the bead with the thread coming out, then you have 3 o'clock bead followed by 6'oclock bead and finally 9'oclock bead. See now where is 6 'oclock bead?

  • Pull the thread ends to tighten pass the right and left thread through the beads,bring the 2 ends together, double knot, glue, once again pass the thread through one or two beads and trim.

    Fringe Making, a technique inspired by embroidery and off loom stitches.

    It is a simple technique but nevertheless it's a nice way to add more color in a jewelry. The picture below shows a mix of stripes seed beads and a beautiful vintage bead.
    With this technique, you can use seeds , small gemstones, vintage, wood .....anything you like !
    Let's see how to make it!

    Supplies

    • nylon thread, size "B"or "D"
    • beading needle size 12 or 13
    • seed beads(11° or 15°)
    • 1 or 2 little beads like 2 mm gemstones, chips,8° or 6° seed beads...
    • scissors and glue

    How- To

    how to make a beaded fringe with seed beads

    • Cut a comfortable length of thread (30 cm) or 12",
    • needle on 5 to 8 (15°) seed beads, pull them to the end of the thread .
    • You need to make a loop with the 15° seed beads. Pass your needle back through all the 15° beads, pull to tighten and make a knot. This loop will be attached to a finding, so make sure it is very strong and well glued. (picture 1 on the right)
    • String on 20 or more seed beads, one or two rondelles , one seed bead.
    • Skip the last seed bead strung, pass the needle back through the rondelles and the 20 seed beads.
    • Pull the two threads ("steam" thread and tail) together to tighten, square knot, glue;
    • Pass back each thread end in one or two beads(very important for security, strength) and trim. You have a nice fringe! See how simple it is!
