Donuts embellishment

How can you make your own circle-pendant-necklace with donuts? We will show you three different designs made with wood and mother of pearl donuts, but you can choose one in stone, glass or plastic if you prefer. Actually each design illustrates a technique we love to use

  • The first pendant has a beige beaded bead in its center. A tassel is attached to it with eye/head pins using the eye loop technique.
The idea was to play with contrasting texture ("cold" feel of the glass teardrops and "warm" feel of the wood donut).
A neckwire is attached to the pendant but you can use a cord or a chain, plain or with beads. Many possibilities!

  • The second circle pendant necklace is easier to make. Make bead dangles and attach then to the cord with a big jump ring.

  • The third circle pendant necklace has flat bird charms glued on it.
The collage technique is also one of our favorites!

  • The last one is longer to make but again you can see that even with simple techniques you can have nice results!
It is made with bead embroidery techniques.

Let's see now how to make them…

Attach the yellow cord to the donut with the lark's head technique.

Make few beaded charms with the wire technique and connect them with other charms or metal rings to a big jump ring.

The jump ring is then connected to the cord.

Embellishment

  • Connect the donut with the cord with the lark's head technique.

  • Use pins as marks to help you remember which part need to be embellish,

  • remove the cord from the donut and embellish the front side of the donut.

  • With a size 11 or 12 beading needle and size B Nymo, string a sequin, few seed beads. Skip the last bead strung and pass your needle back through the other beads and the sequin. Sew into the cord twice to secure your knot. Continue until the front part is totally embellished. Make knots on the necklace cord and embellish as well.
