The craft market offers a huge choice of flower beads.
Big, small in any type/shape you can imagine: Carved gemstone, wood, bone, lampworked, polymer clay, recycled glass, handmade glass, beautiful vintage to name a few…
Yes they are very popular and we love to use them as much as we can!
With their motives (geometric, naive, Chinese cloisonne, millfiori… ), they are major visual elements in a bead pattern.
We will try to explain why we love them so much through different types of beads.
Let's start with Indonesian beads and the pictures below show other types of flower beads.
Some of these handmade beads has unusual flower designs/motives and can improve any bead patterns even with cheap beads.
- Using them helps to play with color coordination.
For example, in the necklace made with bone beads the bead pattern is set upon the tiny flower tube's colors (shades of blue, orange, beige)
- Enhancing your pattern: If you scroll down, you will see necklace patterns using flute beads with colorful round flowers.
We made 2 different necklaces using the same flute bead as a base.
One has orange/red hues, the other is set around green hues and shades.
In the two examples, the bead pattern is improve thanks to these colorful beads with geometric motives!
- Flower-beads add life, brings joy in the pattern, in the jewelry thus in your life.

These jewels add visual interest to a jewelry and it feels like flirting with spring when wearing them!
For us, they "lift up" a jewelry pattern. Even handmade ones with "naive" motifs can make sophisticated jewelry!
