What is exactly a glass-pearl?
This is a simulated pearl.
It is created with a "based "glass bead with mother of pearl, pearlescent also called "nacre" layers on the top.
For long lasting colors, the beads are heated after dying.
There are different glass pearl qualities depending on the manufacturers. We have a preference for Swarovski crystal glass pearl beads.
They have a crystal base and a specific coating.
Thus, they have an iridescent luster, a silky finish which make them beautiful!
From what we heard, this special coating is resisting to cosmetics and they don't fade or get damaged with time.
They have also a big range of colors from "romantic pastels" to different shades of grey, dark grey, crystal grey, deep blue, brown or dark. Very deep and unusual colors!
You can give full rein to your imagination for one of kind jewelry making!
They are of course a bit more expensive than glass pearls with a glass core but less expensive than freshwater pearls.
Round one come in different sizes from 4mm to 14 mm (more than freshwater pearls) and you can find half drilled, baroque," pear" or curved shapes.
We love to make jewelry using simple techniques with a fun and creative spirit and for us working, designing with glass pearls is a real pleasure!
With these little jewels, not too expensive, you can come up with amazing designs!
If you are working on a budget for a wedding or a special party, you can make very nice necklaces which can really look like as nice as freshwater pearls.
They can be mixed with glass, wood beads as well as gemstones.
For those of you who like neutral or classy colors with an elegant silky effect, let your imagination play! sky is the limit!
Few words about the other types of glass pearls.
They come in a huge variety of colors but they may vary from a strand to another and they can have minor defects ( little scraps for example).
Anyway we still use them especially for their colors.
Manufactures are following the trends and come up with fashion colors. So if you want to make fun and fashion jewelry, that is a good option.
If you want to make a jewelry party with young girls for example, they are also a good option. Nice looking and not too expensive!
We are happy to share few design ideas
four different styles!
As we said glass pearl is very versatile and can be combine with rough or soft or glittering jewelry components.
You can use all types of jewelry making techniques from stringing with elastic, wire thread, nylon or silk and of course you can use the wire technique.
The glass pearl's holes are big enough ( versus freshwater pearls which have very small holes) so you can use them with any type of threads you like!
