How-To-Make-A-Necklace
With Stringing Wire

How-to-make-a-necklace using a wire thread.

This specific thread is made with twisted steel cable enclosed with a nylon coating.
They are different qualities and brands, more or less expensive.
You should try different one to see which one you prefer. Anyway, we use only stringing wire with a coated nylon on its surface.
it is a bit more expensive but does not break with time.

This "wire thread" comes in many colors and sizes. ( from 0.12 to 0.24 inch )
All details are given in our free E-book: " Our Favorite Jewelry Making Supplies".
With this type of thread, you can finish your jewelry (you attach a clasp) only with crimp beads.

Once you have your bead pattern in mind, it goes fast, it is strong and does not require needles!

Wire thread can also be a part of your design. Imagine a necklace made with beads separated from each other with a segment of wire thread in between each bead, with crimp beads flatten securely on each side of each bead.
In this case the wire thread is not only use for stringing but also used as a part of the design!
Note that beads should not be separated from each other more than 2 or 3 cms.

We use this technique often because it is secure and simple.

As easy as 1-2-3 with a fun and creative spirit!

Before seeing how to, here are few examples.

  • Here, the two bracelets are strung with silver plated wire thread and sterling silver findings and clasps.
  • Look at the first picture. Beads are strung with an extra small size stringing wire (.12).
String the beads starting from the bottom of the bead pattern, string the earwires and pass your thread back into the last bead strung ( you are making a small loop) and then pass this thread back inside all other beads.
    Cut the tail.
Tie the two tails with a small crimp bead.

    Let 's see how…

Crimping pliers or flat nose plier?

    easy-necklace-making

Cut some stringing wire, string on a crimp bead and loop (pass the thread's tail through the crimp bead). Flatten with a flat nose plier.
String a bead and then trim the tail. You can add a second crimp bead.

The picture below shows a loop flatten with a crimping plier.

Look at the crimping plier: it has 2 channels in the jaws. Make the first crimp in the jaws close to the handle.

    Crimp.
    It should look slightly rounded.

The second jaw will "round" the crimp. Squeeze down on the crimp bead for more security.

A loop can be embellished with French wire/bullion.

    Embellish with French wire/bullion

French wire is traditionally used for pearl knotting with silk or nylon thread.

You can also use it with wire thread to finish nicely and neatly your jewelry.
