This e-book "Jewelry Making Supplies" is a list of basic supplies for crafting jewelry.

This web site is about making jewelry using simple techniques. Even simple techniques require some knowledge and I know what I am talking about! My first jewelry were breaking all the time!
That's why I decided to emphasize on supplies and their corresponding findings and tools.

The market offers a huge variety of wire threads, threads for knotting pearls, thread for stringing beads, thread for beading with seed beads… All in different sizes and amazing colors. Which to choose?
Not to mention the fact that each country can have its own brand…

Anyway, beginner or hobbyists must consider that each thread has its specific needle and finding for finishing the jewelry.

Once you know these basics, making jewelry is a game and after a bit of practice, you will be able to give full rein to your imagination!

Threads and cords are not only used for stringing or knotting beads. With their colors, they can be a major part of a design!
For example,we like to use what we call the fancy knotting technique.
For this type of pattern, beads are not "seated" next to each others with a knot in between them. There is a 2 or 3 cms of thread in between each knots and therefore the thread's color is part of the design.
Here the yellow adds a touch of color to this necklace mainly string with dark beads.

Here,we used 3 silk thread's colors to strung this necklace. Again, these colors add "life" to this long necklace strung with natural kukui beads.

Jewelry making supplies and tools.

If you wish to make fantasy jewelry, you will need to invest in few tools.
Here is a list of basic tools.

They are enough to practice and see if you wish to go on with jewelry making or not. Anyway, even if you are not sure to keep going with crafting jewelry, you should always buy good quality tools.
Crafting with bad quality supplies can be stressful!

Our Best Tips

• Start making jewelry with craft findings. With copper or antique gold for example, you can make very nice jewelry.

  They are less expensive than silver, gold plated or gold filled. You will be able to experiment and not feel guilty if you waste a lot of material.

  After some time, try Silver findings.

• Use gemstones meanings for making a gift. For example rose quartz symbolizes love, friendship.
• Embellish simple, easy: embellish your beads with bead caps, or a simple collage.

  Even a plastic bead can look beautiful with a simple bead cap.

• Color combination can be an issue; it is not something easy to mix beads together (at least for me). Take your time and don't hesitate to mix different types of beads ( glass/plastic…) together. Color trends following can give you ideas.
