Buttons are normally made for clothes. If you go to flea markets for example, you can find amazing, beautiful vintage buttons used to embellish particular type of clothes.
Buttons with their colors or motives is a great source of inspiration for jewelry crafters!
Look at a haberdashery and you will find horn, bone, wood covered, plastic, ceramic, metal, rhinestone… not to mention mother of pearl, shell, that we use a lot.
For example, you can see how to use these amazing
lace mother of pearl.
We made earrings but you can imagine a long or short chain or cord necklace space out with these buttons.
We propose also flat beaded flowers made with buttons: the center piece of the flower is a small round button. The beaded bead is glued on a bigger button and is used as a support.

How-To
You will need plastic buttons like the one in the picture, a cutter and beading wire (gauge 32).
To cover the back of the button-flower, you will need craft wire ( 20 to 22 gauge).

Cut a comfortable length of beading wire and string the buttons. Pass the tail back through the first button. Refer to the right angle weave technique.


Pass through the beads 3 times to strengthen the work.


Pass the wire around the buttons.

Now string the center-button and again wrap around the beads.
