Making A Pearl-Choker-Necklace

Here is an idea, if you wish to make a pearl-choker-necklace.

In the standard terminology, a choker drops just above the collarbone. It has one strand versus the dog collar made with two or more strands.

A pearl-choker can simply be made with a unique pearl and strung on a leather cord and finished with two knots. These are very trendy and can be wore with man and women.
If you have a beautiful, high quality pearl, you can make it yourself but you must have a pearl with holes big enough that can be strung on leather or cotton cord but that's difficult to make or find!

What we did though is to string a nice pearl on a transparent cord and finished with small sterling silver end caps. Simple and elegant choker that you can wear anytime!

As Charming-Jewelry-Making.com is about making jewelry with a fun and creative spirit, we have made a choker with easy to find ( and not too expensive) beads, buttons and findings and of course using simple techniques.

We have designed this jewelry with dark blue and brown freshwater beads, shell buttons and light blue aquamarine gemstones.

As we try to propose jewelry ideas with inexpensive ( or not too expensive) material, we used here only freshwater pearls or Swarovski glass pearls. Freshwater pearls are cultured pearls. You can find different qualities at different priced natural or dyed.
Form what we saw in last trade shows, you can find nowadays amazing dyed Chinese pearls in subtle or fancy colors for our delight!

Buttons, all types of buttons are fabulous items for jewelry making and a great source of inspiration for jewelers and especially for us!

With common type of buttons that you can find in any haberdashery, you can make original necklaces, chokers, bracelets, earrings and of course rings.
Mother of pearl buttons are among our favorites. They are shiny, iridescent, soft like silk and so feminine! They can be shaped, dyed, enameled and most of them are inexpensive.
We use them as supports for the rings made with small round buttons and bead embroidery techniques.

Let's go back to our pearl choker necklace and let's see how to make this pearl-choker-necklace!
