Turquoise-Necklace
We made this turquoise-necklace for different reasons. -
This necklace was made to "celebrate" the pantone color of the year 2010,
- Turquoise is a gemstone wich has wonderful
properties and unusual blue color.
- The necklace shows different types of turquoise beads in different colors as well.
- This three strands necklace was strung with silk and stringing wire: two basic jewelry making techniques.
If you look at ethnic jewelry, this stone is often mixed with coral and carnelian or amber beads. You can also see them in dream catchers as a protective stone for American Indians.
Here, this turquoise-necklace is a "bib", three strands (with three different lengths) bead necklace.
For the first strand we used "sleeping beauty "chips". Sleeping beauty is a variety of turquoise, it has a sky blue color and can be found in Arizona.
The second strand is made with oval beads (blue with dark accents) and black silk thread.
The third strand is made with chips and nuggets (blue green with dark accents).
Often, you can see turquoise set with silver or gold.
We use here a very nice brass clasp, we often use metal craft findings as well and it works well. Indeed, the brass, pewter or craft findings match well with this stone.
As you can see this stone has brown, gold, black shades which can be mixed with brass, or antique gold for example.
Another simple option is to make a three strands necklace, each one in the same length and make a braid.
As simple as 1-2-3 with a fun and creative spirit!
